PLAYOFF IMPLICATIONS
OCSC still remains in second place in the Pacific Division after winning one match in their last seven games. On the other hand, Tacoma has not lost in their last seven games. An OCSC win will see them pad their second-place lead in the standings. A loss, and Tacoma moves into second place.
DILLON POWERS DEBUT
Signed last week from Scottish side Dundee United, the former MLS Rookie of the Year Dillon Powers made his OCSC debut as a second half substitute against Phoenix Rising FC. In his 30+ minutes of action, Powers completed his three passes including one that created a chance on offense and made three clearances on the defensive end. He also picked up a yellow card.
HISTORIC MOVES
In what is believed to be the highest inter-league transfer in USL history, New Mexico has acquired Chris Wehan. OCSC wishes the best of luck to a true professional.
WELCOME, BEN MINES
OCSC signed attacking midfielder Ben Mines from MLS side FC Cincinnati on Monday, August 16th. Mines is a talented young prospect and a product of the New York Red Bulls academy system. At 20-years-old, Mines signed a homegrown contract with the Red Bulls where he scored two goals and notched one assist over six appearances with the MLS side between 2018 and 2020. The winger was chosen by FC Cincinnati with the first selection of the MLS 2020 End-of-Year Waivers Draft.
GIRL POWER NIGHT
The midweek matchup sees OCSC celebrate all girls and women for their continuous contributions in and outside of local soccer. The game lands on the 36th anniversary of the U.S. Women’s National Team’s first official game against Italy.
