Return of the Dos
Orange County SC hosts LA Galaxy II at Championship Soccer Stadium on Saturday, August 7 to kick off OCSC’s annual summer Beer Fest series.
This is the third time OCSC will match up with Los Dos and will be looking for their first win against them this season. Their previous match took place at Dignity Health Sports Park and featured two early goals from both teams and nothing much the rest of the way.
Have a Birthday Week Mikko Kuningas
Finnish midfielder Mikko Kuningas turned 24 on July 30 and the next day he notched two assists in a 3-0 victory against Oakland Roots SC. Kuningas’s first assist came off of a set-piece that he looped into the box to Kobi Henry who nodded in his first professional goal. The second was a pass in the box that Aidan Apodaca received before rifling his first goal with the club. He was rewarded for his performance by being named to Week 15’s USL Championship Team of the Week.
LAST MATCH HIGHLIGHTS: MIKKO KUNINGAS GETS A PAIR OF ASSISTS
Staying in the Hunt
After going winless in their last three matches, OCSC rebounded with a 3-0 win in Livermore against Oakland Roots SC. It ended a tough July stretch of games and still managed to remain in second place in the Pacific Division. It sets up a race to first place against Phoenix Rising FC heading into the final months of the season. OCSC plays Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday, August 14.
