IRVINE, Calif. – Orange County SC has agreed to terms with Englishman Charlie Adams, the team announced today. Terms of the deal were not disclosed and pending league and federation approval.
“Charlie is a tremendous player that I have come to respect over the past couple of seasons having played against him with the Real Monarchs. Charlie is a fierce competitor first and foremost; he brings the commitment and work ethic that we have instilled here in Orange County this past season with him. He is a fantastic addition to our team and I look forward to working with him this season,” said Orange County SC Head Coach Braeden Cloutier.
Adams, a midfielder from Hendon England, has successfully played the last couple seasons with Real Monarchs in the USL. He made 62 appearances and scored eight goals over three seasons with the club.
“I was extremely flattered when OCSC called and asked me to play for them,” said Adams. “Playing for Orange County, the top team in the west last year, represents the type of challenge I wanted to take next year. I’m attracted to the style of play and ethos the team has, I’m looking forward learning and improving as much as I can and hopefully I can help the team achieve the goals everyone has set for 2019.”
Adams began his professional development in the Brentford youth system where he played for Brentford and Stevenage. In 2015 he had a brief stint in the USL with Louisville City before retuning to Stevenage, and ultimately joining Real Monarchs in 2016.
“We are delighted to add Charlie to our Orange County SC roster,” said Orange County General Manager & Executive Vice President Oliver Wyss. “He is a versatile midfielder and a first-class professional on and off the field. I am convinced Charlie’s talent will improve our team and entertain our Orange County fans.”
