Following the announcement of the home opener against Louisville City FC on March 11, 2023 at 7:00 PST at Championship Soccer Stadium, Orange County SC today announced the rest of the 33 fixtures for the 2023 USL Championship season. For the first time since 2015, every USL Championship club will play each other at least one time during the season, following conference realignment this offseason.
OCSC will face their Western Conference foes twice; once at the friendly confines of Championship Soccer Stadium in Irvine, and again on the road. The Black and Orange will also face each of the Eastern Conference squads once in 2023, with six of those 12 matches coming at home and the other half as the visitors.
The home schedule features a three-match homestand to begin the year, with the first two matches seeing Eastern Conference powers Louisville City FC and the Tampa Bay Rowdies making their first trips to Championship Soccer Stadium. OCSC will play three of their five matches in May at the Champ, including rivalry matches with San Diego on May 6 and Sacramento on May 17.
The away half of the schedule includes a few first time stops for OCSC. After home matches against Loudoun United, Memphis 901 FC and The Miami FC last season, head coach Richard Chaplow will lead his squad into northern Virginia, Tennessee and southeastern Florida for the first time this season. OCSC will make the trip to the Rising’s new home in downtown Phoenix on September 30.
The 2023 regular season schedule closes out with a two-match homestand against Oakland Roots SC and San Antonio FC on October 4 and 7, followed by the regular season finale at Cardinale Stadium against Monterey Bay FC on October 14.
Thanks to the 2023 USL Championship Conference realignment, OCSC will face Detroit City FC and Birmingham Legion FC for the first time in club history this season. Indy Eleven will make their first trip to Orange County on April 15.
The Black and Orange’s 2023 home schedule this year consists of 13 Saturday matches, three Wednesday matches and one Friday match. All home matches at Championship Soccer Stadium in 2023 are currently slated to kickoff at 7:00 PM PST, but are subject to change. A full promotional schedule will be released soon and will feature the return of Beer Fest, Touch-A-Truck, and many more exciting events for the 2023 season.
