Orange County SC are pleased to announce that Dan Rutstein has officially been named the club’s new President of Business Relations. Rutstein, a former sports journalist and British diplomat, took over as Interim Club President in August.
Rutstein oversaw an extremely successful stretch for the business side of the Club to end to the 2022 season, in which not only did Orange County set new records for ticket sales, sponsorship and merchandise revenue, but significantly expanded its contributions and programs for the underserved OC Community via its Charitable Foundation. Rutstein was also instrumental in leading the campaign to ensure OCSC would stay in Irvine for the 2023 season.
“We pride ourselves on being a club who do things differently, a club that approaches the business of soccer with an entrepreneurial mindset and a creative edge,” said owner James Keston. “Bringing in Dan, with his diverse professional experience and wide-ranging background, shows our ability to bring innovation, initiative and new ways of doing business to the USL and US Soccer. I am delighted to make his appointment permanent and look forward to where he will lead the club in the coming years.”
As well as his background in sports journalism, Dan also refereed at the semi-pro level in England and in the Bermuda Premier League. In his spare time he hosts a podcast – America the Beautiful Game – about the soccer relationship between US and Europe.
