PHOENIX (September 18, 2018) — Phoenix Rising forward Chris Cortez was named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 27 of the 2018 USL season the league announced today. On Saturday evening, Cortez took five shots, completed two key passes and scored the game-winner in a 1-0 win over Seattle Sounders 2. His teammate, goalkeeper Carl Woszczynski, was also recognized by the league as an honorable mention selection. Woszczynski posted a clean sheet in Saturday's win, his 10th clean sheet of the season.
This is the fourth time Cortez has been recognized by the league and it's the second time for Woszczynski.
Phoenix Rising finishes its three-match road trip at Colorado Springs this Saturday for a showdown with Switchbacks FC. The match kicks off at 5 p.m. Fans can attend the club's two official watch parties at Brass Tap Gilbert (313 N. Gilbert Road | Gilbert) and Dave and Buster's (Tempe Marketplace).
