
PHOENIX (April 27, 2018) — Phoenix Rising FC continues a three-game homestand at the Phoenix Rising Sports Complex this Saturday, facing off against Fresno FC, a USL expansion club, for the first time in club history. The match kicks off at 7:00 p.m. and fans can watch the match locally on Yurview Arizona, Cox channels 4&1004 in Phoenix and 7&1007 in Tucson. They can also stream the match on ESPN+. The match will also be simulcast live on the radio on El Patron 93.7 FM (Spanish language) and Fox Sports 910 AM (English).
Phoenix Rising FC (3-1-2) last played on Saturday, April 21, in an action-packed 2-2 draw with Swope Park Rangers. In that match, forward Billy Forbes scored his first goal with Rising FC to give Phoenix a 1-0 lead. After Swope Park built a 2-1 advantage by scoring a pair of second-half goals, midfielder Solomon Asante netted an equalizer in the 90th minute to secure a point for Rising FC.
Forbes and Asante each added an assist in the game, helping the duo land USL Team of the Week honors for week six. Asante was named to his first Team of the Week this season, while Forbes was a Team of the Week honorable mention.
The club's 11 points in six matches is a record start for Phoenix Rising. The previous record was 10 points set in 2014. The club is also off to a record start defensively, allowing just five goals in the first five matches of the season.
Fresno FC (2-1-4) started strong in its inaugural season, picking up at least a point in six of its first seven matches. Fresno enters Saturday’s match on a six-game unbeaten streak and has drawn in each of its last three contest, most recently holding San Antonio FC to a 0-0 result last Sunday.
This will be the first time the two teams have ever met, making Fresno the 29th different USL club Rising FC has faced in its history.
