(PHOENIX) August 29, 2017 – Phoenix Rising FC forward Chris Cortez was named to the United Soccer League Team of the Week for Week 23. This is the eighth time a Phoenix Rising FC player has been named to the team of the week this season and the first time this year Cortez has received the honor.
Cortez had a hand in all three goals during Phoenix Rising FC’s 3-1 win over Sacramento Republic FC on August 26. Ten minutes into the match, he scored the opening goal. Then he provided the assist on goals from forward Jason Johnson and defender Peter Ramage.
Phoenix Rising FC returns to the Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex on Saturday, September 2, to square off with Sounders FC 2. That match will kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
