Ary Borges will make her return to Racing Louisville FC’s starting lineup for Saturday’s 5 p.m. matchup with the Washington Spirit at Lynn Family Stadium.
Borges’ re-entry to the 11 marks coach Bev Yanez’s lone change from the club’s game against Chicago Stars FC — a 2-0 away win on March 30. The Brazilian replaces Marisa DiGrande in Louisville’s midfield.
Borges, 25, will partner with the in-form Taylor Flint, the NWSL leader in successful duels won with 42, to form the midfield double pivot. It is the second time in the last three matchups against Washington that Racing has deployed this midfield pairing.
Ahead of the established duo is rookie Katie O’Kane, who takes up the attacking midfield role for the second consecutive match.
Racing’s leader in shots, Kayla Fischer, held her place in the No. 9 position to lead Louisville’s attacked. She’ll be flanked by the same wide threats from the club’s first win: the former three-time All-Big Ten Conference selection Sarah Weber on the left and the Racing’s top goal scorer, Emma Sears, in the right wing role.
Personnel in defense remains consistent for the third game running. Needing just one save to reach 300 for her career, Katie Lund retains her place in Louisville’s net. Captain Arin Wright sits alongside Racing’s leading chance creator at Chicago, Courtney Petersen, in central defense.
Making 100th regular season NWSL appearance, Lauren Milliet continues at right back opposite rookie standout Ella Hase on the left.
The bench features Nigerian forward Uchenna Kanu, who makes her return to the matchday squad for the first time since August 31 of last season.
