Racing Louisville coach Bev Yanez on Wednesday previewed the upcoming home contest against the Houston Dash, a rematch of the scoreless draw in Houston back in March, talking about the return to play following the international break last weekend.
Saturday will be the first match for Racing (2-2-6, 12 points) since its 1-0 triumph at Chicago on May 25, a win that propelled Louisville into eighth place — a playoff position — in the NWSL table.
“Obviously excited for another season match,” said Yanez. “I think, having some trainings last week without a match — and being able to continue to push on the areas we feel we can and continue to be better in but also the progression that we’ve been pleased with — has been really beneficial for us, continuing to build our relationships as a group, and just again, excited to get back into a rhythm of playing league games.”
Not only have the Louisvillians already seen the Dash in the 2024 regular season, they also competed against Houston in a closed-door friendly in February in Tucson, Arizona. Houston (3-5-3, 12 points) has won two of its last three games, including an eye-catching 3-0 win on May 24 against North Carolina.
“Obviously visiting a team that we’ve seen early on, and saw early on in preseason, and continuing to track their evolution of their style,” said Yanez on the Dash. “I think for us it’s just exciting to play at home. It obviously means a lot to our group to be able to play in front of our home crowd and our city.”
