A first-half hat trick and four total goals from Kaela Dickerman helped propel Racing Louisville’s W League team to a convincing 7-0 victory Wednesday over St. Charles FC at the Lutheran High School St. Charles Football Field in Saint Peters, Missouri.
Ava Hendrick, Molly Richards and Lilia Work each added goals of their own for Racing.
Louisville improves to 3-4-1 on the season, keeping its position in fourth place in the Valley Division of the nation’s premier pre-professional women’s soccer circuit. Racing had eight current Academy players or graduates in the starting XI.
Racing put the pressure on the home outfit early on, and it paid off in the 14th minute.
Kaela Dickerman took advantage of a defensive mistake to put the Louisvillians up. Ten minutes later, Dickerman converted her second, a stunner from distance that found the far left corner of the net. Just before the half, Dickerman completed her hat trick, overpowering the goalkeeper with a right-footed strike from close range.
Louisville kept pressing in the second 45 minutes. Dickerman started the second half as she did the first half, extending Racing’s lead to four soon after play resumed.
From then on, three Academy talents combined for the next three goals. Richards scored her second goal of the season against St. Charles FC in the 60th minute, followed by Work, who used a Dickerman assist to convert a tap-in for the sixth.
Two Academy players combined to cap off the afternoon. A precise pass from Caitlin Chase set up Hendrick, who calmly slotted it home to finish the performance off in the 83rd minute.
With two games left to play, Racing is mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. The teams at the top of each division will advance to a USL W League single-elimination tournament which begins in July.
Up next, Racing will head to Toyota Stadium in Georgetown, Kentucky, for its third and final meeting against in-state rival Lexington SC at 7 p.m. Friday.
Racing will return to the Lynn Family Sports Vision & Training Center for its final home match to host Indy Eleven at 4 p.m. on June 30. Home matches are free to attend and open to the public.
