Brazilian international Ary Borges is set to make her return to the Racing Louisville starting lineup for today’s 7 p.m. ET Summer Cup clash against the Orlando Pride at Inter&Co Stadium in the Sunshine State.
The 24-year-old midfielder represents one of the seven changes to coach Bev Yanez’s starting XI from Racing’s last match — a 1-1 draw vs. North Carolina Courage at Lynn Family Stadium. To qualify for the Summer Cup semifinals on Tuesday in Kansas City, Louisville needs to win and score multiple goals in doing so – or win by multiple goals.
Paramount+ and CBS Sports Golazo Network are set to carry the broadcast tonight.
Racing (1-0-1, 4 points) faces a crucial match this evening after North Carolina’s 3-0 victory over C.F. Monterrey on Wednesday night. The Courage compiled seven points in group play; in order to trigger the aforementioned tiebreaker scenarios, Racing needs all three points in Orlando.
Borges slots back into Racing’s starting XI for the first time since April 28, taking up the creative attacking midfield role in Louisville’s setup. Behind her, Jordan Baggett will replace Jaelin Howell, partnering with Taylor Flint in the midfield double pivot.
Goalkeeper Jordyn Bloomer returns to the starting lineup in place of Katie Lund, making for her second Summer Cup appearance. Bloomer earned Racing’s Player of the Match honors in the 3-1 victory over Monterrey in the tournament opener, making six saves.
Yanez made one change to the backline: Ellie Jean slots in alongside captain Abby Erceg at center defense, shifting Arin Wright to left back opposite Lauren Milliet on the right.
It’s a new look front three for Racing from the previous contest. Parker Goins is set to lead the line in her first Racing start since last August’s Challenge Cup match against the Kansas City Current. Flanking Goins are Colombian international Elexa Bahr on the right wing and rookie Reilyn Turner on the left. Bahr, who scored and had an assist in the regular season opener against Orlando, returns to the starting XI after three consecutive appearances as a substitute.
Along with Lund and Howell, the rest of the substitutes bench also includes midfielders Marisa DiGrande and Linda Motlhalo; winger Maddie Pokorny; and forwards Kayla Fischer and Emma Sears.
Goalkeeper Olivia Sekany; defenders Elli Pikkujämsä and Carson Pickett; midfielders Savannah DeMelo and Yuuka Kurosaki; and forward Kirsten Wright were all previously listed as out in the league availability report. Forwards Milly Clegg and Uchenna Kanu are at the Olympics with their respective national teams.
