News and Notes:
SERIES FINALE: With only three matches left on the season, the Kickers will take on Tormenta in their second-straight home match to close out September.
Early in the season, the Kickers took down Tormenta 3-1 on the road, with scoring that moved up the formation. Seven minutes into the match, centerback Nathan Aune scored followed by midfielder Justin Sukow in the 41st minute, and in the second minute of first-half stoppage time, striker Emiliano Terzaghi rounded out the half with one more goal. Tormenta winger Kingsford Adjei answered with a goal of his own in the second half but the Kickers remained on top through the 90th minute.
In the second match-up, Tormenta swung first. South Georgia found the back of the net late in the first half off a strike from defending midfielder Nick Akoto. Sukow would come flying out of halftime with a goal of his own though, unable to leave the Tormenta lead unanswered. The Kickers held off any other South Georgia attempts on the night and left Tormenta Stadium with a tie to keep a hold on the series.
Not only would a win secure the season series for the Kickers. The Richmond side will also have the opportunity to play spoiler this weekend as the South Georgia Tormenta hope to catch a final spot in the playoff hunt.
MAN OF LAST MATCH: Midfielder Zaca Moran was named man of the Sept. 23rd match against Greenville Triumph SC. Moran has played in 28 of the 29 matches this season, captaining the last five. Moran remained a strong presence in the midfield for all 90 minutes of the match. He made his presence known defensively, logging two clearances and one block while taking three shots for the Kickers.
