In the first round of the USL Jägermeister Cup, Nils Seufert buried a long free kick to get the Kickers on the board

The Richmond Kickers (3-3-1, 10pts; 0-1-0, 0pts) fell 1-4 to USL Championship side Louisville City in the first round of the Jägermeister Cup. Louisville sits second in the USL Championship and is one of four other opponents in the Kickers’ group for the Jägermeister Cup.
German midfielder Nils Seufert buried the Kickers goal to get the Richmond side on the board in the tournament.
The first half stayed even though the full 45, Kickers locking down the attempts from Louisville. It wasn’t until first half extra time that the Kentucky side broke through. Manny Perez found the back of the net just before the whistle sent both teams into the locker room.
Both sides fought even through the first ten minutes of the second half as well until Louisville found a second goal.
With time on their hands though, the Kickers wouldn’t let this one go unanswered. With a free kick just outside the top left corner of the box, Nils Seufert stood over the ball. Taking his time, he found the ball beautifully and buried his attempt in the back of the net.
Though the Kickers kept pushing for their own points to eliminate the Kentucky lead, Louisville would find two more throughout the second half.
The Kickers take the pitch again on Friday, May 2 at City Stadium back in regular season play against Greenville Triumph. The next Cup match will be June 28 when the Kickers take on Lexington SC, also at City Stadium. Get your tickets now at richmondkickers.com/tickets!
