PITTSBURGH (MAY 24, 2016) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds midfielder Lebo Moloto was named to the USL’s Team of the Week after registering a dazzling effort against Toronto FC II. Helping the Hounds to their first win of the season, Moloto notched the first tally of the match, and his first goal of the season, in an eventual 2-1 win over Toronto at Highmark Stadium this past Saturday, May 21.
A native of Polokwane, South Africa, Moloto celebrated his 26th birthday with a curling shot from the left side of the box that found the back of the net in the 68th minute. His goal would give the Hounds a lead they would not relinquish for the remainder of the night against Toronto.
Moloto is currently in his second season with the Hounds, quickly becoming an integral part of the club. Last year saw the midfielder finish third amongst the team in goals with six and second in assists with seven. Moloto’s impressive soccer pedigree extends back to his time with NAIA school Lindsey Wilson College, where he was named the national tournament’s Most Outstanding Offensive Player during the school’s national title run his freshman year – the first of two national titles for Moloto in Columbia, Kentucky.
Prior to joining the Hounds, Moloto competed for United F.C. in South Africa.
Moloto along with the rest of the Hounds (1-4-3) will now look to continue their winning ways in a late road date against New York Red Bulls II at 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 28.
