PITTSBURGH (May 6, 2020) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC fell to Union Omaha, 2-1, in the round of 16 of the USL eCup: FIFA20 Edition esports tournament this evening.
With defender Mark Lindstrom at the helm, the Hounds, playing as the Belgium National Team, were in it until the very end. The Hounds outshot Omaha, which played as the Norway National Team, 7-6, throughout the match. After an Omaha goal made it 2-0 in the 78th minute, a bottom right-corner shot from the Hounds made it 2-1 in the 83rd minute. However, Omaha then ran out the clock to secure its spot in the next round.
Despite the loss, the Hounds will be back in action next week (date TBD). Remember that this first week of competition determines in which of the three divisions the Hounds will be placed. All of Pittsburgh’s FIFA20 esports matches can be streamed live on the club’s Twitch channel.
