PITTSBURGH (May 12, 2020) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC fell to Greenville Triumph SC, 3-2, in its first divisional game of the USL eCup: FIFA20 Edition esports tournament this evening.
With fan Alex Williams manning the controls, the Hounds, playing in Division A as the Belgium National Team, were tested early. After a top-left corner goal gave Greenville a 2-0 lead right before the half, the Hounds answered with two goals in five minutes, tying the game at the half. Then, Greenville drilled a shot into the bottom-right corner in the 64th minute to give it a 3-2 lead, which it would not concede. The Triumph outshot the Hounds, 11-9, but the Hounds led in time of possession.
Despite the loss, the Hounds will be back in action next week (date/opponent TBD). After reaching the round of 16 last week, the Hounds were placed in Division A. The Hounds are one of 12 teams in the division, all of which are gunning for the title of division champion for the week. All of Pittsburgh’s FIFA20 esports matches can be streamed live on the club’s Twitch channel.
