PITTSBURGH (May 20, 2020) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC defeated Indy Eleven, 3-2, in its first week three game in Division B of the USL eCup: FIFA20 Edition esports tournament this evening.
With defender Mark Lindstrom on the sticks, the Hounds, playing as the Belgium National team, were in a battle early. Indy, playing as the Ivory Coast National Team, fired a strike into the top-left corner to start the scoring in the 10th minute. The Hounds would soon fire back, scoring two goals in five minutes to take a 2-1 lead in the 25th minute. Then, in the 45th minute, Indy was given a red card, swinging the momentum in the Hounds’ favor. The Hounds would add another goal in the 52nd minute, which would prove to be all the insurance they needed, despite a 79th minute goal from Indy. The Hounds dominated possession, and outshot Indy, 11-9.
With the win, the Hounds will face the Tampa Bay Rowdies at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow. Winning this game would put the Hounds in the Division B championship game, which would take place at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
