Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC defeated the Tampa Bay Rowdies, 4-3, in the USL eCup: FIFA20 Edition esports tournament this evening.
The Hounds, represented by defender Mark Lindstrom, went down early. Tampa Bay, playing as the Colombia National Team, opened up the scoring in the 6th minute, converting on a second-chance opportunity. Just like their first game in Division B, the Hounds, playing as the Belgium National Team, would come roaring back. They got on the board after firing a shot into the bottom-left corner, and added another goal in the 27th minute to take a 2-1 lead.
Then, Tampa Bay would answer with a goal of their own in the 33rd minute, after firing a strike into the bottom-left corner. The Hounds would add yet another goal in the 42nd minute, and took a 3-2 lead into the half.
An 82nd minute goal insured the win for the Hounds, despite an 86th minute goal from Tampa Bay. The Rowdies outshot the Hounds, 11-8, but the Hounds dominated possession throughout.
With the win, the Hounds advance to the Division B championship game, and will play at 8:30 p.m. tomorrow against Phoenix Rising FC, which plays as the Netherlands National Team. All of Pittsburgh’s FIFA20 esports matches can be streamed on the club’s Twitch Channel.
