Rowdies Notes
The Rowdies are off to a great start as a member of the United Soccer League, having won all their of their matches so far and keeping three clean sheets. Tampa Bay was bumped from the top spot in the Eastern Conference by Saint Louis FC on Wednesday night, but STLFC has played one additional match.
The Rowdies’ third-consecutive clean sheet last weekend in a 1-0 win over the Ottawa Fury FC tied a club record set in July of 2012.
Tampa Bay left back Luke Boden was named to the USL Team of the Week on Tuesday after a stellar performance against the Fury FC. It was Boden’s deflected cross that Georgi Hristov headed home for the only goal of the match. To read more about Boden, click here.
After being omitted from the Rowdies’ 18-man matchday squad in each of the first three matches, forward Martin Paterson is eligible for selection this week. Georgi Hristov received his Green Card and now counts as a domestic player for roster purposes, freeing up an international spot for Paterson.
Scouting Louisville City FC
Louisville City FC has had a big week in the buildup to this match, unveiling new black third kits on Monday which will be worn in this match. On Wednesday, the club announced its intentions to build a 10,000 seat soccer specific stadium in Louisville’s Butchertown Neighborhood to open for the 2020 season.
On the field, Louisville City FC has been impressive this season, sitting in third place, just two points behind the Rowdies. Louisville City FC has beaten Orlando City B and the Richmond Kickers in its last two contests following an opening day draw against Saint Louis FC.
George Davis IV leads the team in scoring with two goals this season.
