SACRAMENTO, Calif. (February 23, 2016) – Sacramento Republic FC have agreed to a contract with free agent forward Mackenzie Pridham for the 2016 USL season. Pridham played the 2015 USL season with Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2.
“This is a excellent signing because Mac has come to us through the tryout system,” said Republic FC Head Coach and Technical Director Paul Buckle. “I am pleased that we were able to identify that Mac had the talent to make our first team roster. I like that he can finish and is very good in the 18-yard box. I think that he can be dangerous and he showed that with his score against an MLS backline on Saturday.”
Pridham has appeared in both of Republic FC’s 2016 preseason MLS friendlies at Bonney Field, including a start against the San Jose Earthquakes on Feb. 20. He scored a goal in the 8th minute against the Quakes.
Pridham appeared in 20 matches for Whitecaps FC 2 in 2015, including two appearances against Sacramento Republic FC, a start on April 15 and a substitute appearance on Sept. 6. Pridham played with Minnesota United (NASL) in 2014. He was loaned to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds (USL) during that season where he scored a goal in seven appearances.
The forward was a standout college soccer player at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Pridham made 70 appearances from 2009-2013, scoring 27 goals and recording four assists. Of his 27 collegiate goals, 12 were game-winning goals. Pridham and midfielder Matt LaGrassa were teammates at Cal Poly from 2012-2013.
Sacramento Republic FC continue their preseason when they face the Sacramento State Men’s Soccer Team on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at Hornet Field. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. Tickets are on sale at csus.edu/hornettickets.
The USL regular season kicks off March 25 when Republic FC travel to Washington to face Seattle Sounders FC 2. For more information, including Pridham’s full profile, visit www.sacrepublicfc.com.
