Sacramento Republic FC Academy U-13/14s midfielder Roberto (Nicholas) Hategan was named to the U.S. U-16s Boys’ National Team’s 20-man roster for the 13th Tournament Delle Nazioni in Italy. Led by Head Coach Shaun Tsakiris, the U.S. U-16s head to Italy April 25-27 to defend their tournament title. The U.S. captured the Tournament Delle Nazioni title last year, defeating Austria 3-2.
In this year’s tournament, the U-16s will play in Group C against Croatia (Apr. 25, 7 a.m. PT), Slovenia (Apr. 26, 7 a.m. PT), and Brazil (Apr. 27, 8 a.m. PT) in their first major tournament of 2016.
Hategan is the fourth Republic FC Academy player to-date to receive a U.S. Youth National Team call-up. U-15/16s goalkeeper Mason Finnell was called to U.S. U-15 Boys’ National Team Camp in November, while U-17/18 defenders David Burns and Nabilai Kibunguchy received respective call-ups for the U-20s and U-18s Men’s National Team.
