Glory Glory Sacramento Fund is Launched
Sacramento Republic FC launched the Glory Glory Sacramento Fund on April 21 at a press conference at College Track in Oak Park, in partnership with the Sacramento Region Community Foundation. Republic FC was joined by representatives from over twenty local nonprofits during the announcement.
The Glory Glory Sacramento Fund was created to celebrate and elevate nonprofits that share the same indomitable spirit as our region. The fund distributes individual grants up to $20,000 to Sacramento region nonprofits that support education, health/wellness or youth leadership and that provide a big impact with minimal resources.
“The Glory, Glory Sacramento Fund will allow Republic FC to empower the people of our community,” said Republic FC Executive Vice President and Co-Founder Joe Wagoner. “The Fund will put real dollars into the hands of local nonprofits, helping those in need, and will help make the Sacramento region a better place to live, work and play.”
While the monetary donations are the core component of the Glory Glory Sacramento Fund, Republic FC’s commitment to helping each chosen recipient beyond that by activating the club’s players, partners and fans is an additional resource to this community effort.

Since the launch of the Fund, Sacramento Republic FC has distributed over $270,000 in grants and resources to 15 local charities including: Sacramento Regional Conservation Corps., Cristo Rey High School, Community Outreach Academy, 916 Ink, Waking the Village, Street Soccer USA, Capital Dance Project, La Familia Counseling Center, College Track, Student Reach, The Powerhouse Science Center, Runnin’ for Rhett, Center for Land-Based Learning, Yolo Farm to Fork and Food Literacy Center.
Aside from the grant, each recipient also received recognition and on-site promotion at a Republic FC match, and tickets to the match to be used as student incentives, volunteer appreciation gifts or for fundraising. Every recipient also received coverage on Republic FC’s website, social media, matchday program and pairing with a Republic FC player to serve as a spokesperson or mentor.

“I think the kids really enjoyed it, and I know I really enjoyed it. I know Cristo Rey is just like an awesome program and they are just providing some awesome opportunities,” said midfielder JJ Koval, who was paired with Cristo Rey High School. “The kids are thriving there. They were talking about how every kid is going to college which is just awesome. I mean I can’t think of any high school where that’s the case where so many kids are driven to go to college and have that opportunity. It’s a really special place and I’m glad I got to visit.”
Even now after the conclusion of the season, Republic FC has continued to support the nonprofits awarded grants through other community events. In November, Republic FC hosted a Thanksgiving dinner with families from Street Soccer USA, and earlier this month Food Literacy Center was invited to host a cookie decorating party at the Team Store that showcased healthy alternatives to the usual holiday cookies. Emrah Klimenta and members from Tower Bridge Battalion also joined dancers from the Capital Dance Project for their presentation of the Nutty Nutcracker.
