
VENTURA, Calif. — Sacramento Republic FC continued its preparations ahead of the 2019 USL Championship season with a 9-1 win over Ventura County Fusion on Wednesday night.
SRFC Head Coach Simon Elliott, who is entering his second season at the helm of the club, fielded two distinct starting XIs for each half as the club gears up for its sixth USL campaign.
Tyler Blackwood, Quincy Butler (SRFC Academy) and Stefano Bonomo all struck in the first half to put Republic FC ahead 3-0 at halftime. In the second half, Cameron Iwasa scored a hat trick and Villyan Bijev added a brace before Drew Skundrich capped off the scoring in a 9-1 victory over Ventura.
The Indomitable Club will continue their training camp in Southern California this week before taking on arch rivals LA Galaxy II in a friendly on Saturday night.
