The East Coast club kept a high line for the entire contest, but Sacramento goalkeeper Tomas Gomez and the Republic FC back line did well to mitigate the pressure, allowing just 3 shots on target.
New York would get on the board with their only score of the match in the 62nd minute, when Jeremy Rafanello netted an excellent shot past Tomas Gomez from 35 yards out.
Mark Briggs’ men made the most of their opportunities all night, putting four of their seven shots for the match on frame and generating six chances to score from close range.
Sacramento returns to action this Thursday when they travel north to Washington for their first meeting of the season with Tacoma Defiance. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
