The Latest on the Team
Republic FC enters Saturday’s match against San Diego with confidence. The club’s 0-0 draw with first-place Phoenix Rising FC last weekend was the first time the Arizona club had been shut out this season, ending a streak of 32 matches that dated to July of 2020. Republic FC held Phoenix to just two shots on target for the entire match and had their way with Phoenix’s defensive unit, outshooting them 11-6 in the second half.
The team also enters this week with a new face on the roster. On Wednesday, the club announced it had acquired Emil Cuello on loan from San Antonio FC for the remainder of the season. The midfielder has logged just under 1,000 minutes this season, tallying two scores in 16 appearances. Since making his professional debut in 2019, Cuello has made 20 appearances in MLS with LA Galaxy.
The club also announced it has sent defender Mitch Taintor on loan to San Antonio for the remainder of the season.

San Diego has dropped three of their last four, most recently falling to Orange County SC 2-1 on August 21. Landon Donovan’s squad has performed well under pressure this season, as 16 of their 20 matches have been decided by one score or less.
Republic FC will need to keep tabs on forward Robinson Moshobane, who has netted three scores in his last two matches including a brace against Las Vegas on August 18. The South African striker enters the week tied for sixth in the league with seven goals scored.
Loyal SC recently made two new additions to their squad to fortify their attacking corps. Augustine Williams was added on loan from LA Galaxy, while Douglas Martinez was acquired from Real Salt Lake’s system. Both players have split time between their organization’s respective MLS and USL affiliate squads this season.
