CARSON, California (September 1, 2021) – Cameron Iwasa logged his second brace of the season as Republic FC split points with LA Galaxy II on Wednesday.
The Indomitable Club came out of the gate swinging in the first half. A blocked shot from Cameron Iwasa just 23 seconds in set the tone, as the club would go forward to put five of nine shots on target and manufacture six scoring chances in the first half.
19 year old Mario Penagos would draw a foul in the box, and Sacramento would capitalize from the spot in the 16th minute. Iwasa buried the attempt, netting his fifth score of the season and second in as many games. The goal was the first of Iwasa’s career against Galaxy II and 57th overall, moving him into 7th place all-time in USL.

Los Angeles nearly pulled even before the end of the half, but a great save from Rafael Diaz kept Republic FC’s advantage intact going into the break.
Los Angeles would begin to knock on the door as the match continued. A great defensive effort would keep Sacramento’s lead intact in the 55th minute, when Jordan McCrary would head out a dangerous look from Cameron Dunbar.
