Earlier today, the USL Championship announced that Republic FC’s Carlos Saldaña was nominated for Fan’s Choice Save of the Week for Week 26. Voting is open now at USLChampionship.com through Friday, September 9 at 9:00 a.m. PT.
Coming out of halftime, Sacramento was on their heels fending off pressure from Louisville City FC. A cross in from the left provided the hosts a chance from point-blank range, denied by Sacramento’s keeper with an all-out diving stop. The 50th minute save kept the club’s deficit to one as they searched for an equalizer.
This is Saldaña’s first career nomination for the weekly honor, and the fifth time this season Republic FC has been nominated for the league’s weekly top stop. Teammate Danny Vitiello won the weekly vote just last week for a leaping denial against Oakland Roots SC on August 27.
Voting for the award is open now at USL Championship.com, and is open now until 9:00 a.m. PT on Friday, September 9.
