SAN ANTONIO (Feb. 18, 2017) – San Antonio FC faced St. Edward’s university in their second preseason match of 2017. The teams played two 60-minute matches. The first resulted in a scoreless tie, while St. Edward’s won the second 1-0.
“All the contracted players got 60 minutes today,” SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell said. “We were also able to look at players who have been on trial and see where they’re at and where they stack up in terms of our roster. There were a lot of positives to take away today.”
The lone goal of the day came in the 50th minute of the second match when St. Edward’s intercepted the ball around midfield and broke away in a one-on-one against SAFC goalkeeper Lee Johnston.
San Antonio FC created a handful of chances in both matches but ultimately did not find the back of the net.
SAFC will return to training next week ahead of their preseason trip to Florida where they will face Minnesota United (MLS) and Orlando City B (USL) in the span of a week.
