San Antonio FC (1-0-0) will host LA Galaxy II (1-0-0) at Toyota Field on Saturday, April 1st. The match will be the club’s first at home this USL season after they opened the 2017 campaign with a win last weekend in Edinburg, TX.
Coverage of the match will be available at www.sanantoniofc.com and the USL Match Center.
San Antonio FC will head into the match after starting the season with a win against South Texas rivals Rio Grande Valley FC. A goal from Billy Forbes was enough to clinch the Alamo City club three points on the road and their first South Texas Derby win in club history.
LA Galaxy II also opened their 2017 season with a win against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2. An own goal from Sem de Wit earned Los Dos the lead early in the match before Ethan Zubak capitalized to earn the club their first win at home.
The match will be the first at Toyota Field this season. SAFC previously recorded a 1-1 draw against Swope Park Rangers in their inaugural home opener in 2016, which saw a record-setting attendance number at Toyota Field (8,466) and marked the first sellout in club history for the Silver and Black.
The two clubs will face each other for the third time overall this weekend. San Antonio FC will be chasing its first win against LA Galaxy II after recording a 1-1 draw on the road and a 2-3 loss at home against the club in 2016. Both squads will shape up much differently this year, with the addition of 13 new faces on the SAFC roster and a few changes to Los Dos’, most notably the absence of forward Jack McBean.
