San Antonio FC will host ‘Our Future’ Night presented by Cheerios on Saturday, Sept. 8 when the club takes on Phoenix Rising FC at Toyota Field. Throughout the night, the club will celebrate the past, present, and future of professional soccer in San Antonio by recognizing the players from the SAFC Pro Academy and introducing retro apparel that will pay homage to the first professional soccer team to play in the Alamo City, the San Antonio Thunder.
The match will include a pregame ceremony that will recognize all SAFC Pro Academy teams on the pitch. The Academy teams are made up of over 80 full-time players from the Greater San Antonio area and compete in the US Soccer Development Academy, the highest tier of youth soccer in the country.
The club will also host a halftime on-field recognition for players in its Elite Training Program, an extension of the Academy that offers training opportunities to players who are not within the age range for its DA teams.
SAFC will auction off signed, player-worn special edition pregame tops that will honor the San Antonio Thunder. The Thunder played in the original version of the North American Soccer League during the 1975 and 1976 seasons, and most prominently featured the talent of English soccer legend Sir Bobby Moore during its second season.
The auction will go live on Monday, Sept. 3 and fans can bid online. Proceeds of the auction will benefit Silver & Black Give Back, the nonprofit partner of Spurs Sports & Entertainment.
Fans can purchase a ticket to the match plus a collectible SAFC and Thunder scarf starting at just $20 online. In addition, fans will be able to purchase new San Antonio Thunder retro apparel for the first time by visiting The Soccer Factory stands at Toyota Field on match day.
The night will conclude with an ‘Extra Time’ postgame party presented by Bud Light following the final whistle where fans can enjoy live music, $1 beer and sodas, games and more.
San Antonio FC travels to take on Phoenix Rising FC on Wednesday, August 22 before returning to Toyota Field on August 25 as they host Swope Park Rangers. For more information and ticket inquiries, fans can call 210-444-5657 or visit www.sanantoniofc.com.
