SAN ANTONIO (April 8, 2022) – San Antonio FC will host MLS side Austin FC in the third round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup on April 20 at Toyota Field, the club announced today.
Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. CT kickoff will be on sale to the general public on Tuesday, April 12 at 1 p.m. CT at SanAntonioFC.com. Fans who have downloaded the SAFC app will be able to participate in an exclusive presale at 10:00 a.m. CT on Tuesday.
The first-ever meeting between the intra-state rivals comes after SAFC beat D’Feeters Kicks SC 3-1 on Tuesday, advancing to the third round of the tournament. All-time, SAFC is 2-2 in the third round of the Open Cup, with the last win coming in 2018 against Colorado Springs.
The match will mark just the earliest round SAFC has met an MLS club in as part of the Open Cup. The only other matchups came in the fourth round of 2016 and 2018, with SAFC falling 0-4 to Houston and 0-1 to FC Dallas, respectively.
