Pueblo, CO (March 8, 2017)-The Colorado Springs Switchbacks defeated CSU-Pueblo 1-3 to remain undefeated in their 2017 preseason campaign.
After a 5-2 victory over Air Force on Saturday in a closed scrimmage, the Switchbacks were looking to build on their recent win. Aaron King scored his third goal of the preseason to give the Switchbacks a 0-1 lead about four minutes into the match. The Switchbacks continued to dominate possession but they were only able to take a one goal lead into halftime.
CSU-Pueblo was able to find an equalizer about 15 minutes into the second half after a defensive error led to a one-on-one opportunity against Luthy who was beat to his right. Coming on as substitutes, Chris James found Eddy Prugh near the top of the box to regain the lead. Masta Kacher would then double the Switchbacks lead with a rocket from well outside the box. The Switchbacks improved to 3-0-1 in the preseason with the 1-3 victory to remain undefeated.
"It wasn't a bad performance," said Head Coach Steve Trittschuh. "The guys have been working hard in training, but we did some very good things but, I wasn't happy with the goal we gave up. However, the couple of goals that we scored were fantastic, and we've just got to keep doing that. We're still putting some things together, we've got two weeks to do it, and keep working at it."
