Tormenta FC Ties to Orlando City B with an Extra Time Goal
Eckenrode Scored in the 94th off of Micaletto’s Free Kick
Well over 50 Tormenta FC fans, almost a quarter of the total fans in attendance, filled Montverde Academy tonight as the team faced Orlando City B. It was a tough match for both sides with pouring rain and injuries, but the final score came to a 1-1 draw. Tormenta’s goal was scored in extra time by Lars Eckenrode off of a free kick by Marco Micaletto.
Where Tormenta FC lacked in possession throughout the game, they made up for with several close opportunities. Alex Morrell almost gave Tormenta an early lead in the 6th minute but missed the shot narrowly. In the 31st, Tormenta fans cheered on Charlie Dennis for a goal that turned out to be an offsides shot. Then again in the 55th, Marco Micaletto energized the away crowd with another close one.
In the 58th, Tormenta FC conceded a goal to Orlando City B, scored by Ates Diouf, putting OCB on top with a score to 0-1.
After several more missed shots by both teams, the match went into five minutes of extra time. In the 94th, Micaletto’s free kick ricocheted off Lars Eckenrode and into the goal, bringing the final score to a tie 1-1.4
“I thought the result tonight was a bit unlucky due to the many chances we created,” Tormenta FC head coach John Miglarese said. “However, I am more relieved that Lars is okay after the collision, and our thoughts are with the injured Orlando player.”
Tormenta FC continues its away stretch this Saturday, April 20th against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC.
