
STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 took down Asheville City SC 4-0 tonight at Erk Russell Park for the away side’s first look at USL League Two action. Tormenta FC 2 electrified the crowd with four goals scored by Gabriel Rodriguez, Rodney Michael and a brace by Gabriel Cabral.
Rodriguez secured Tormenta 2’s lead early on in the match, finishing from close range in the 15th minute. Minutes later, Michael persisted inside the box after several blocked shots and brought the score to 2-0.
After the halftime break, Cabral stunned the crowd with a beautiful strike from outside the right side of the box. The Brazilian midfielder then scored off a free kick from well outside of the box to record his first two goals and TFC 2’s second brace this season.
Several new faces were in the lineup tonight, including goalkeeper Ryan Troutman and midfielder Alexis Ledoux. Troutman and the TFC 2 back line helped secure the squad’s first shutout of the season while Ledoux impressed technically in the midfield.
Tonight’s Man of the Match, presented by Galactic Comics and Games, is Gabriel Cabral who scored two world class goals, doubling the squad’s lead tonight.
Tormenta FC 2 will travel to play Charlotte Independence 2 on Wednesday, May 9, at 7 p.m. ET for its first road game of the season. Following the away matchup, Tormenta FC 2 will be back in action at Erk Russell Park Tuesday, May 25, at 7 p.m. to host Dalton Red Wolves SC.
