STATESBORO, Ga. – Ranked second in the USL League Two Deep South Division, South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 travels to face seventh place Dalton Red Wolves on Friday, July 9 at 7:30 p.m. ET. The team looks to close out its regular season with a win to carry the momentum into its playoff race.
Battling for the second time this season, Tormenta FC 2 defeated the Dalton Red Wolves 1-0 at home on May 25 with Gabriel Rodriguez’s chip in the 30th minute. Goalkeeper Drew Romig also had an exceptional night, making two big saves to secure the team’s clean sheet.
The Red Wolves have recorded 11 goals in 11 games, while TFC 2 has outshot its opponents 20 to 10 this season. Dalton comes into the match with a 4-7-0 (W-L-D) record, having lost their last three matches as well as a total of three losses at home in 2021.
After a year without USL League Two play, Tormenta FC 2 is excited to make its third playoff run in club history. Tormenta 2 is the reigning Southern Conference champion and hopes to repeat this in 2021. The squad heads to the Southern Conference Quarterfinals on Friday, June 16 with more details to be announced soon.
While the club’s second team battles for the USL League Two trophy, Tormenta FC’s USL League One side will play at home on Saturday, July 24 as they take on the Richmond Kickers for the second time this season.
