Savannah, Ga. – While Mother Nature shed some drops that lengthened an already-squeezed schedule of 165 games at the Jennifer Ross Soccer Complex, South Georgia Tormenta FC’s entrants were raining W’s all over the Jennifer Ross Soccer Complex at the annual Ibis Cup presented by Publix this past weekend.

Seven Tormenta FC squads captured gold medals, while four others won silver, collectively amassing 38 wins, eight losses, and a pair of draws.
A total of 94 teams competed in the Ibis Cup, with 22 teams from South Georgia Tormenta FC. Tormenta FC was also proud to have current players Madison Haldeman, Kamryn Martinez, Isaiah Puente, and Brice Sanner joining the crew of 44 referees who covered the event.
The final match on Sunday also happened to be the most exciting! In the U13 Boys Championship Division, the TFC 2011 Boys Magenta team, coached by Dana Powers, squared off against the Augusta Arsenal. It was the first time that the Tormenta squad had reached a tournament final. The two teams went scoreless through regulation time, as well as a pair of five-minute overtime periods, leading to a penalty kick shootout. Each team was awarded five shots, with Augusta taking the first one, and alternating with Tormenta FC. Tormenta FC’s keeper Cristiano Lujan kept Augusta off the board with its first four attempts, and Tormenta’s first three shooters were also stymied. However, Ayden Swords blistered a line drive to the Augusta keeper’s left to put Tormenta ahead. Lujan forced a high shot to seal the victory!
At the medal ceremony, Powers praised his players’ hard work and commitment and assured this new level of success would stay with his team.
