STATESBORO, Ga. – June 19, 2024 – South Georgia Tormenta FC thanks assistant coach Jordan Melia for his years of service coaching the USL League One team, the Tormenta 2 team, and teams in the Tormenta Academy.

Melia began his journey with South Georgia Tormenta FC in 2020, acting as the U16-19 Boys Director for the Tormenta FC Academy, leading the 2004 boy’s team to a 2020 South Carolina State Challenge League fall title. He also committed himself to South Georgia further in 2020, joining the Boy’s USL Academy coaching staff for the 2021 campaign. Melia was later named the head coach of the Boy’s USL Academy, a position he held until 2023.
Melia’s unwavering commitment and service to South Georgia continued, as he joined the Tormenta 2 coaching staff and the USL League One professional team staff, all while still working with the Academy. Melia was an integral member of the coaching staff during the 2022 National Championship win with the USL League One team.
“It’s stressful losing someone like Jordan from your staff. He brings so many qualities that balance our staff and he helps ensure we’re giving our players the very best preparation possible. I felt the same way when Tom Morris left us last season. That core staff produced some remarkable outcomes for our club, and quite frankly helped me so much learning from them. What consoles me is we now depend even more on Jordan Bell and Drew DeJohn to help us prepare a group to win silverware. Those guys have the knowledge and work ethic to push us on, which helps me sleep at night!
“Jordan has everyone’s best wishes attacking his next ventures in life. To work with him again in the future would be a privilege,” Head Coach Ian Cameron said in regard to Melia’s departure from the club.
