STATESBORO, Ga. – June 30, 2024 – South Georgia Tormenta FC’s USL League One team has announced four nominees for the June Tormenta FC Player of the Month award, and fans have their chance to vote using the Tormenta FC app, which can be downloaded here.
Jake Dengler, Preston Kilwien, Daniel Steedman, and Mason Tunbridge are up for the honor for their June form.
Player of the Month Nominees:
Jake Dengler, Defender: The defender netted his second goal of the season against Chattanooga Red Wolves on June 22 and was a rock at the back for the Ibises throughout June. Dengler recorded 17 clearances, nine tackles, and eight interceptions over the course of June’s five matches.
Preston Kilwien, Defender: Kilwien also played a crucial role for South Georgia in defense during June, completing three tackles, seven interceptions, 20 clearances, and winning 7 duels. Kilwien played all but 12 minutes for South Georgia during the month of June. Kilwien was named Player of the Match for his performance against Forward Madison FC, which ended in a 0-0 draw.
Daniel Steedman, Midfielder: In June, Steedman was the anchor of the Tormenta FC midfield, winning 32 duels, completing eight interceptions, and making fourteen tackles. The midfielder also proved to be an attacking threat in June, creating six goal-scoring chances and netting his first professional goal against Central Valley Fuego on June 29.
Mason Tunbdrige, Midfielder: The Englishman contributed a goal and assist in his 187 minutes across all competitions. Tunbridge created six goal-scoring chances for South Georgia and completed 16 passes into the final third. He was also able to progress the ball himself for the Ibises, making 11 touches in the opposing box and completing four dribbles.
