STATESBORO, Ga. – July 12, 2024 – South Georgia Tormenta FC has signed goalkeeper Michael Mejia to a 25-day contract, pending league and federation approval.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper joins the club following a championship-winning season with the Flower City Union in the NISA League. The goalkeeper maintained a clean sheet in the championship-winning match against the Michigan Stars.
“We knew of Michael’s ability, but his passion and character shined through straight away,” Assistant Coach and Goalkeeping Coach Jordan Bell said. “I am very confident that Michael will add quality in our environment and will play a vital role to this team both on and off the field.”
Mejia played a total of 2,280 minutes for the Flower City Union and played at the collegiate level for Montclair State University prior to this professional season.
“I am so excited and thankful for the opportunity that’s been presented to me,” Mejia said. “I am here to compete and help the team in any way I can, while using this experience to grow as a player and person.”
