STATESBORO, Ga. – August 13, 2024 – South Georgia Tormenta FC is pleased to announce the signing of Curtis Thorn for the remainder of the 2024 season. Thorn is active on the roster and available for selection ahead of the August 17 match against Northern Colorado Hailstorm.

“I am beyond excited to be back at the club where it all started for me. This place has a special place in my heart for more reasons than one. Spoke with a few members of the group already and it’s a real good bunch,” Thorn said. “Ian in my opinion is the best coach in the league and I’m so happy to be under his guidance once more. I can’t wait to contribute and help the team in any way that I can.”
Thorn is no stranger to South Georgia, having played with the pre-professional Tormenta 2 team in 2019 and Tormenta’s USL League One side from 2020 to 2022. Thorn was an integral feature of the championship-winning 2022 roster.
In Thorn’s three seasons with Tormenta’s professional side, he made 59 appearances across all competitions and earned three goals and three assists. Thorn played a resounding 4805 minutes for Tormenta.
Departing from Tormenta FC after the 2022 season, Thorn joined USL Championship side Miami FC for 2023, where he made 18 appearances across all competitions. Thorn contributed two assists for Miami, as well.
“Curtis brings in a unique blend of hunger and maturity to our team, which is rare to find in a player, so we knew when the timing was right, we wanted to see him join our team again,” President and Co-Owner of Tormenta FC Darin Van Tassell said.
Fans can watch Curtis Thorn and the rest of the Tormenta FC squad in action at 7:30 p.m. August 17 at Tormenta Stadium by purchasing tickets to the upcoming match here.
