South Georgia Tormenta FC is excited to announce the signing of defender Joseph Pérez to its 2025 USL League One roster, pending league and federation approval. Pérez, 27, began his career with Puebla FC in Liga MX, where he made 63 appearances for their U20 team.
“We’re pleased to welcome Joseph Pérez to our squad. JP helps the team progress the ball really effectively and he has the IQ to take interesting positions up. He also brings a positive energy to the locker room, the lad loves playing soccer with a smile.”
Head Coach Ian Cameron
Pérez signed his first professional contract in 2018 with Club Puebla of Mexico’s Liga MX. That July, he was loaned to Las Vegas Lights FC in the USL Championship and played seven matches during the remainder of their inaugural season.
In February 2020, Pérez signed with San Diego 1904 FC of the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA). He made an immediate impact, scoring his first professional goal in his debut match against Stumptown Athletic. The following season, Pérez joined the Los Angeles Force, before joining Cal United Strikers in 2022.
Most recently, Pérez spent two seasons with Chattanooga FC. In the 2023 NISA season, he started all 24 matches and recorded one assist. In 2024, Chattanooga made the jump to MLS Next Pro, and Perez appeared in 26 games, recording one assist and a passing accuracy of 82.7%.
The Tormenta FC squad has arrived in Statesboro and begun preparations for the 2025 USL League One season. Tormenta FC kicks off its seventh season of professional play on Saturday, March 8, at Tormenta Stadium against the Richmond Kickers.
