South Georgia Tormenta FC goalkeeper Austin Pack has been named to the USL League One Team of the Week for Week 6 following his standout performance in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Portland Hearts of Pine. Pack is also in the running for Week 6 Save of the Week.
Pack came up big in key moments to preserve all three points for South Georgia, including a pivotal first-half penalty save that kept the Ibis ahead going into the break. With the game level at 1-1 in the closing stages, Pack continued to provide crucial defensive coverage, helping stabilize the backline through a series of late attacks from Portland.
“I felt like I was due one after the last game,” Pack said postmatch. “Having one go underneath me last time, I really wanted to step up this week. I just tried to read it, do the best I could, and luckily, I was able to come up with the save.”
The 31-year-old registered five saves on Saturday and saved the fourth penalty kick of his professional career. Per American Soccer Analysis, Pack led all goalkeepers in goals conceded below expected (1.81) and goals added (1.60).
Pack’s clutch performance follows a strong start to the season for Tormenta FC, who improved their home record with the win and look to carry momentum into Tuesday’s U.S. Open Cup Third Round match on the road against Charleston Battery.
