Tennessee – Kiki Milloy
Entering the WCWS ranked No. 4 in the country, Tennessee came out swinging to churn out 11 hits and two four-inning runs – pushing past No. 5 Alabama, 10-5. Kiki Milloy shined on Day 1 with a base hit, a walk and a pair of runs to help secure the victory for the Lady Vols, setting them up to take on the Oklahoma Sooners in the winner’s bracket on Saturday, June 3 at 2 p.m. CT.
Alabama – Montana Fouts
A slow offensive game for the Crimson Tide pushed Alabama into the loser’s bracket on Thursday afternoon without an appearance from Montana Fouts in the circle. Fouts and the Crimson Tide will move on in the tournament to face Stanford in an elimination game on Friday, June 2 at 6 p.m. CT.
Oklahoma State – Kelly Maxwell
Capping the action on Thursday night, No. 6 Oklahoma State fell to the No. 3 Florida State Seminoles in a 8-0 (six innings) run-rule contest. Getting the start in the circle for the Cowgirls, Kelly Maxwell tallied three strikeouts through two innings of play before a lightning delay suspended the game in the top of the third. Oklahoma State will drop to the loser’s bracket for an 8:30 p.m. CT matchup against the loser of No. 7 Washington and No. 15 Utah on Friday, June 2.
Originally scheduled for 8:30 p.m. CT on Thursday, June 1, Game 4 featuring Baylee Klinger and the Washington Huskies has been postponed due to weather and is set to take place against the Utah Utes on Friday, June 2 at 12 p.m. CT.
Following the conclusion of the WCWS, these athletes will represent the Red, White and Blue at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) World Cup Group A event in Fingal-Dublin, Ireland held July 11-15. For more information on the 2023 WNT and its upcoming events, visit USASoftball.com.
