What is the Olympic Development Program?
ODP is for U17-U12 age groups
The US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program, or ODP as it is more commonly known, is a National, Regional, State, and District Team Identification and Development program for high-level players. The program identifies and develops youth players throughout the country to represent their State, Region, and the United States in soccer competition. In addition, the program also serves as a recruiting hotbed for college coaches.
Virginia participates in the East Region for ODP.
*important note – ODP program registration is based on player birth year which may differ than a player’s club age group*

What is the Developmental-Olympic Development Program?
D-ODP is for U11-U9 age groups
The Virginia Youth Soccer Association offers a state-wide developmental program (D-ODP) designed for U11, U10, and U9 players. This program is designed to provide players the opportunity to train with many of the top coaches on the VYSA State Coaching Staff and be exposed to the best practices that the Olympic Development Program employs.
The mission and goals of the D-ODP are to provide players additional high level training and development. There will be a heavy emphasis placed on skill work, individual technical enhancement, and flair with the ball. We believe the foundation of the game lies in the execution and mastery of the ball. There is no tactic, nor system of play that cover up the inability to control or pass a ball effectively.
*important note – ODP program registration is based on player birth year which may differ than a player’s club age group*

ODP Financial Assistance
The Virginia Youth Soccer Association (VYSA) is a non-profit, charitable corporation devoted to promoting youth soccer in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the District of Columbia. VYSA’s Olympic Development Program makes their selections without regard to a player’s ability to pay. VYSA provides financial assistance, for those who qualify, to players whose families cannot afford to pay the full cost of participation in the Olympic Development Program.
Those requesting financial assistance for ODP fees should submit an ODP Financial Assistance Application to the VYSA State Office. While financial aid funds are limited, the financial assistance program makes this opportunity available to those in need in our community.
An application should be submitted electronically using the form link above for upload.
For 2026-2027 financial assistance recipients, ODP player financial responsibility will be at least 50% of an events required fees. Specific amounts will be sent with the selection/invitation process. Submitting a financial assistance application does not automatically make a player eligible to receive funds.
The Financial Assistance Committee will review applications in the order in which they are received completed. Application window will close two weeks prior to the first District training for each specific District.
