
Oakland Roots have signed 25-year-old Japanese defender, Soya Takahashi ahead of the 2021 USL Championship season.
“We are excited to welcome Soya’s versatility to the team,” said Roots Technical Director Jordan Ferrell. “His energy and intelligence fit right into our style of play and we look forward to watching him create goals with his incisive passing and crossing.”
Takahashi most recently featured for Umeå FC in the 2nd division of Sweden. Prior to that he was part of AFC Eskilstuna in the Swedish top division. Takahashi got his start in his homeland of Japan, as part of Sanfrecce Hiroshima where he spent five seasons under contract in the J-League.
