
Oakland, CA – Oakland Roots today announced the club’s full, regular season schedule for the 2021 USL Championship Season. The schedule features four games against every team in the Pacific Division, as well as games against New Mexico United, Tampa Bay Rowdies, Sporting KC II and Austin Bold. Broadcast details for locally-televised matches will be announced soon and all games will air nationally on ESPN+ or on the ESPN family of networks.
The full, 32-game schedule runs from May 8th to October 30th with 16 games at home and 16 on the road in league play. Roots will face 11 different opponents throughout the season, including each of the other seven teams in the Pacific Division, and four from the other three divisions (Atlantic, Central and Mountain). The season will kick-off away at the defending Western Conference Title winner Phoenix Rising on May 8th.

Roots will play their first four games on the road before welcoming Sacramento Republic FC to Laney Stadium for the club’s Home Opener on June 19th. This historic occasion for The Town will reflect the fact that it falls on ‘Juneteenth’, the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.
The State of California announced a change in COVID-19 status in Alameda County from purple to red tier, which allows for 20% capacity of fans in-stadium and it is expected that the County will move to the Orange tier this week. While the players have started their training on the field, Roots Front Office has been working behind-the-scenes for months to ensure that fans feel safe while still maintaining the incredible atmosphere that has come to be expected from a Roots Game Day.
