Oakland, CA – Oakland Roots SC announces the contract extension of defender Baboucarr Njie as the team gears up for the 2024 USL Championship season. Following his arrival in 2023 and an impressive recovery from injury, Njie made a notable impact with seven appearances.
Head Coach Noah Delgado expressed his enthusiasm for Njie’s contributions, stating, “We were highly impressed with Baboucarr’s performance both in training and on the field throughout 2023. We eagerly anticipate the positive influence he can bring to Oakland with a full preseason in our environment and under our coaching staff.”
Hailing from The Gambia, the 28-year-old Njie began his soccer journey at North Carolina Wesleyan University before making his mark with Atlanta United 2 in the USL Championship. Subsequently, he showcased his skills with Rio Grande Valley in 2021 and made a significant move to Phoenix Rising in December 2021, setting the stage for a promising 2022 USL Championship Season.
